I arrived in Fort Collins on Monday the 19th of June. Of course my first stop was Larry Watts' place to see the progress on the body work. It looked great! Larry did a real nice job. The tailgate was in almost perfect condition, as was the rest of the body. Afterwards I went over to John Ferrie's place to see how the engine was progressing. We made plans to go the next morning over to where John Taylor was assembling the block. I was fortunate in that it was a good clean block, it probably would've started up fine, but I wanted it to be trouble free from the git go. It had been bored out .030" over with new pistons, the crank and cam shafts were in good shape requiring only the normal grinding to compensate for wear. I had them balance everything, including the new clutch and pressure plate. John Taylor was installing the valves when we arrived, and was certain to have it completed by days end. In talking to him I learned that John has had several Carryalls himself over the years and has done a good amount of work on various HMV's. I inquired whether he'd be interested in helping me set the engine in place, he indicated he'd be able to and he could bring a rig that could drop it in quick and easy.
That afternoon I went to look at a couple of trailers. I had hoped to find a decent used one, but no good. I did find a new one that I liked at a dealership, so I made arrangements to come back the following day and pick it up. In the meantime I needed to get my tow rig set up with a brake controller, which I did that evening.
